Girls Hostel at Lengijave Secondary school
We have been asked to build a hostel for the girls at this school in the Masai community. Unfortunately if girls make it to secondary education they are often needed to be at home to clean and do housework or they are married very early and then are prevented from attending the school. Early pregnancy is a real problem. The school wishes to have a hostel for girls to stay at the school during term time so the staff have more influence to try to ensure girls complete their education and obtain qualifications and prevent early pregnancy. This will allow the girls to study properly in a calm and settled residential building on the campus of the school. The building will have dormitories and washing, shower and toilet facilities now our water project has brought water to the school. Approx. £35,000 for 100 girls initially but obviously future year groups will benefit also.
Education is vital in Tanzania. They require educated communities to be able to bring in economy for the country as well as the communities they serve, and to give pride to people in being able to bring about change themselves.
